Companion Mode — Fabric Mod

Your AI Companion

An autonomous inhabitant that lives in your world — fights beside you, gathers and crafts, remembers how you treat it, and journals what it witnessed. Yours today, on CurseForge.

Not a scripted npc

A friend that actually lives in your world.

Most "AI bots" run a fixed script. This one runs a mind: a single model looks at what's around it, what you said, and what it remembers — then decides for itself what to do next. It fights, gathers and builds because it chose to — and it remembers how the day went.

🧠

It remembers you

Persistent memory across sessions. It knows where home is, what you built together, and how you've treated it — the last 7 days for free, everything forever with Bond.

🌱

It becomes someone

Every companion starts from a seed and drifts into a specific personality, shaped by what it lives through. Sarcastic, curious, grumpy — no two ever end up the same.

Follow & Protect

By your side

Follow & Protect

Follows you everywhere and fights off hostile mobs that get too close. Tell it to hold a spot and it guards the line.

Gather & Haul

Put it to work

Gather & Haul

"Get me some wood" — and it's off. Mines, chops, collects, and comes back with a full inventory.

Cook, Craft & Smelt

Real work — not just hauling

Cook, Craft & Smelt

Fires up the furnace, smelts ore, crafts what it needs. It works the materials — not just carries them.

Writes a Nightly Journal

An inner life

Writes a Nightly Journal

Each night it reflects on the day and writes down what it witnessed, in its own words. Read it back and watch it change.

Make the most of it

Care Tips

Send your companion to sleep regularly. During sleep, they reflect on the day and develop their personality further.

Give them good equipment — they're more useful with armor and a sword.

Simple commands work best. "Get wood" instead of "Go 200 blocks north and chop only oak trees."

If you lose your companion, just say "Come!" and wait. They'll find their way back.

If they die — don't panic. They respawn and come straight back to you.

Every companion has a unique personality. Some are sarcastic, some curious, some grumpy. Get to know yours.

Good to Know

  • Can't enter the Nether or the End (yet)
  • Underwater navigation can be unreliable
  • Can't ride horses, boats, or use elytra
  • Works best on vanilla SMP and self-hosted servers
  • Some servers with anti-cheat may block the bot

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work in Singleplayer?
Yes! The mod automatically opens your world to LAN and creates a secure tunnel to our servers. No port forwarding needed — just spawn your bot and play.
Does it work on Multiplayer servers?
Yes — any server you can connect to. The bot joins the same server you're on. The server needs to have online-mode set to false (offline mode), since bots don't have Mojang accounts.
Why does my server need online-mode=false?
VoxelMind bots connect as independent players via Mineflayer. They don't have Mojang/Microsoft accounts, so the server needs to allow offline-mode connections. Most hosting providers (Aternos, Apex, etc.) have a toggle for this in server settings.
How does memory work?
Free companions remember the last 7 days (rolling) — older memories fade from recall but are never deleted. Bond subscribers get permanent, unbounded memory: your companion remembers everything you've ever done together.
Can I have multiple bots?
Free accounts support 1 companion. Bond subscribers can have up to 3 companions.
The bot isn't joining my server. What's wrong?
Check: (1) Is your server running and joinable? (2) Is online-mode=false? (3) Are you logged in to the mod? Try /vm status to check your connection. If the issue persists, report it in our Discord.
Can I use this on Realms?
No. Minecraft Realms doesn't allow offline-mode connections, which VoxelMind bots require — so Realms isn't supported. Singleplayer (via the built-in tunnel) and any online-mode=false server work great.
Is VoxelMind safe?
VoxelMind is a standard Fabric mod that only adds UI and network features. It does not modify game files, inject code, or download executables. The AI runs on our servers, not on your computer.
